Words are not just words – they are portals to memories, sensations, dreams, actions and imagination. We don’t read words, we feel them and let them decode our senses.
Part way through my university science degree I knew all I wanted to do was write. That was a long time ago and since then I’ve freelanced in magazine writing for Canadian Living, Vogue Knitting and a host of other national, regional, and local publications. I have contributed to books on first nations art and artists, and written advertising for national and local campaigns.
Writing profiles and bios is one of my favourite things to do. I love telling people’s stories and letting their unique characters shine. I’ve profiled inspiring artists, athletes and business people and I know there is always something unique and fascinating about everyone.
Moving into script writing and production, I’ve written and directed corporate videos, fundraising videos, promotional pieces and instructional videos. My first feature-length production, Daughter for Sale, a Movie of the Week, premiered on the Lifetime Network in the US on Mother’s Day weekend, 2017. After that I was the successful recipient of a Telus STORYHIVE grant for When I’m Dead, a short film I recently wrote and directed in the summer of 2018. I have another Movie of the Week in development and several other film projects on the go.
